SOME 500 scouts and parents including the old boys of Victoria Institution turned up at the school’s Centenary campfire celebrations recently.
The event was launched by Kuala Lumpur state commissioner Major Mior Rosli Mior Mohd Jaafar, who praised the boys and their parents for their effort in organising the event.
During his speech, Mior Rosli said he hoped the VI scout troop would be able to produce some King scouts in line with its tradition of being one of the oldest scout troops in the country.

He was joined by the school’s principal Maslan Buniran in lighting the campfire.
This was followed by several performances by the boys of the First and Second Wilayah Persekutuan scout troop which happen to be the oldest scout troops in the Klang Valley.
A fireworks display ended the campfire and the scouting alumni of Victoria Institution is organising a fund-raising dinner on July 31 at the Kuala Lumpur Parkroyal Hotel.
Event organiser Zaharuddin Zabri said proceeds from the dinner would be channelled towards the construction of a new scout den in the school compound.
